Sustainable Traveling

How many of us love to travel? The answer is that more than 60% of us would love a weekend getaway tomorrow. So, how many people can reduce their waste while on the road? If you have ever taken a road trip, you know how easily waste sneaks into your travel plans. You can reduce your waste by taking a few extra, easy steps. I believe every little effort creates a vibration in the collective frequency for good.

So, where do you start reducing the wasteful fluff for your travels? For starters, bring your own water bottle, that one is easy, and you don't have to buy a fancy 50-dollar one. Some of my favorite water bottles have been old glass bottles. Pro tip: While grocery shopping, consider how to reuse that jar or bottle later.

The second thing I ensure in my bag is a bamboo cutlery set in a pouch. I can not tell you how often I used my bamboo cutlery set, even when I wasn't trying to cut waste. It just happened that I had a cutlery set, and my partner and I lucked out. My bamboo cutlery set is a part of my everyday purse.

The third easy green travel trick is bringing a little collapsible grocery bag that fits into its own small pouch. The grocery pouch bag is another item that is a part of my everyday purse. Those 3 simple things have been game changers in my travel waste reduction.

Now, if you are feeling fancy and want to be uber-prepared, I would get a collapsible to-go box for when you are eating out because eating out happens on vacation. I also like to bring my double-walled stainless steel coffee mug for a few reasons. It's great for the environment and keeps your delicious beverages hot for longer. Another really thoughtful thing you can do for the environment is bring a little bag to pick up trash while hiking or enjoying Mother Nature. I have been caught picking up gross trash on hikes and wished I had a bag to put it in. Mother Nature and her spirits will thank you!

As I am writing this, my brain is spitting out so many tips, but at the risk of overloading those of you reading this, I will stick with those simple tips. Here is a little list at the bottom to bring while packing for your trip. Every little thing counts, and it doesn't cost that much to be thoughtful about our planet. Mother Earth and I thank you for all your efforts, even the small ones!
